No one wakes up one morning and says “Boy, I think I want to be fat!” and then makes it happen. However, most of us wake up one morning and say “Boy, I need to lose some weight!” as we struggle to button our jeans, and then never make it happen. It’s easy to put on the weight, but it takes effort to get that warm weight loss glow when you see the numbers on the scale going down instead of up.

When we do decide to make a commitment to a weight loss plan, we want one thing from it…we want the pounds off NOW! Unfortunately, there is no “magic bullet” that will make that belly go away; it takes time and effort. The good news is that it can take a lot less time if you follow a few simple weight loss tips:

Burn Your Belly Fat FastStart cardiovascular exercise. Activities like walking, running and stair climbing increase your heart rate and boost your metabolism, making you burn more calories.
Snack. The trick to a good weight loss plan is to eat small, low-calorie snacks between meals. This will keep your metabolism stoked and running, and also allow you to eat smaller meals. Just make sure that you choose the right kind of snacks…ice cream doesn’t work! Try to pick snacks that have lots of protein (but stay away from nuts!).
Get plenty of rest. Studies have shown that getting less than the recommended amount of sleep each night can cause weight gain. Also, an occasional “power nap” of 10 to 30 minutes during the day can help keep your energy level up.

Walk, snack and nap. That doesn’t sound like a very strenuous way to lose weight, does it? That’s because it’s not. However, it’s also a proven way to melt flab away, especially at the beginning of your weight loss plan. As you start to lose more and more each day, you will have to pick up the pace on your cardio, of course…15 minutes to one hour of continuous cardio works best, but you’ll have to build up to longer times.

Losing weight can be fun, especially when you see the weight drop away faster than you thought it would. If you follow these simple steps, you’ll be trim and fit before you know it!

When you realize that your clothes are too small to fit anymore, it’s time to start losing weight. When you make that commitment with yourself, however, one of the first things many people decide to do is “eat less,” or even worse, “stop eating”. This can actually make it harder to lose weight.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that you can keep hitting the drive-thru every day and melt away the pounds. It’s just as important to make a change in what you eat as it is to change how much you eat. In fact, there are some foods that can actually help you lose weight! Here’s a list of five types of foods that will help you burn the fat away.

The first is wild-caught fish and seafood such as sockeye salmon, herring, mackerel, clams, halibut, and crappie. These are high in protein, which your body uses as fuel. A good supply of protein can keep those fat cells disappearing.

The same goes for the second food on our list, lean game meat…things like venison, bison and squirrel. However, to get the full benefit, you must pay attention to the words “wild caught” and “game meat”…most meat bought in the store still has good amounts of protein, but it’s mostly farm-raised, where the animal lived a very sedentary life. This change in lifestyle results in the animal having a much higher contaminant level than a wild animal’s meat, and sometimes lower nutritional value, much like what happens to people when they are “couch potatoes”.

The third food that can help you lose weight is eggs. That’s right, eggs. But not just any eggs; organic chicken eggs. Again, eggs from a “free range” chicken are healthier than those you find in the nice cartons at the grocery store. The same goes for the chicken itself, since free-range chicken meat is the fourth food on our list.

You’ll notice a theme running through our list so far…protein, protein, protein! However, our fifth food isn’t know for what it has, but for what it doesn’t have; celery.

Celery has low calorie content…of course, it doesn’t have much in the way of nutrients either. Celery shouldn’t be used as a main food while dieting, but it’s the perfect snack food! It will help you feel fuller and keep you going until dinner time, without harming your weight loss plan.

Remember…don’t starve yourself; that actually makes it harder to lose weight! Eat healthy foods high in protein, and you’ll be on your way to the store before you know it…because your pants will suddenly be too big.

Weight loss is easy, right? You just exercise and stop eating fatty foods. Well, exercise is always a great option, but let’s look at that second idea for a minute.

Believe it or not, your body needs some fats to perform at peak efficiency, so you can’t just cut all fats from your diet. The trick is to eliminate the “bad” fat from your diet while keeping the “good” fat, which is actually easier than it sounds.

Fatty FoodsAll fats have a balance of two types of fats: omega 6 and omega 3. Omega 3 is considered the “good” fat, and it’s essential for your body. Omega 6, on the other hand…well, the less of that you eat the healthier you’ll be.

The best ratio is thought by some to be 1:1 (in other words, 1 gram of omega 3 for every 1 gram of omega 6 that you eat), but you have a much easier goal; a ratio of 3:1. To put things into perspective, the average fast-food chomping, snack-cake eating American has a ratio of about 15:1!

The best foods to eat for a proper ratio of good fat to bad is not what you’ll find in a grocery store; these foods are found in your local streams, lakes and woods!

1.Wild game meat (deer, bison, squirrel)
2.Wild fish ( herring, mackerel, clams, halibut)
3.Free-range chicken meat
4.Eggs from free-range chickens

If you enjoy hunting or fishing, you’re in luck! Your ticket to a healthier diet plan is a part of something you like to do anyway. However, if you wouldn’t know a fly rod from a 30-06 rifle, you can still get these foods at local organic food marts, or from local wild game processors.  Or, if someone in your circle of friends and family enjoys these activities, ask them to help you out…you’ll have a freezer full of “good fats,” and they’ll have a good excuse to indulge in their favorite activity a bit more.
